We would like to announce the arrival of Salvatore Vincent Baier

Congratulations to the proud parents Mr. & Mrs. Baier

Birthdate: December 28, 2017

As we get back into the swing of things here at St. Leo’s, I like to request families to be mindful of re-establishing routines to ensure your child is in attendance and on time each morning in order to get each school day off to a good start.  In addition to this, we ask that families also be mindful of early dismissal habits. While an occasional early dismissal is necessary for an appointment or urgent family need, they should be kept to a minimum, as loss of instructional time can affect a student’s performance. Your support as teachers work hard to maximize instructional time is greatly appreciated.

Policies & Dates to be aware of:

Lateness/Tardiness Policy

School Doors open at 8:00am-- Students arriving after 8:20am are considered Tardy.

  • Three (3) late/tardy instances will result in lunchtime detention

  • Five (5) late/tardy instances will result in afterschool detention

  • More than 5 (5+) late/tardy instances in a trimester is excessive and will result in a parent meeting with the principal.

Dress Code

  • Navy school sweater with school logo is recommended from Columbus Day through April 30. Only school approved sweaters are permitted and classroom temperatures vary throughout the day. BE SURE TO MARK ALL SWEATERS and ALL CLOTHING WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME.

  • Boots, Uggs, and/or Ugg slippers are not a part of the school uniform. If your child wears boots to school during inclement weather appropriate school shoes should be sent to change into.

School Closing Info

In the event of inclement weather school closings or delayed openings (10am start) you will be notified via School Messenger system (Phone/email/text) or via WNBC.

BE SURE YOUR CONTACT INFO IS UP TO DATE IN THE MAIN OFFICE.

Health Policy

  • If your children are sick, and especially when they exhibit any of the following symptoms: fever, stomach upset, vomiting and/or diarrhea they need to stay home and remain at home until they have been symptom free without medication for a full 24 hours.

  • Please ensure that your emergency contact information is up to date at the school office and that you have a plan in place should your children need to be picked up from school if they are ill.

  • It is the time of year that various illnesses spread. Please review with your children (and practice yourself) correct handwashing procedures and emphasize the importance of doing so especially after using the bathroom.

  • The school nurse/principal reserves the right to dismiss students deemed too ill to be in school. Students who arrive after 11:30 am or leave before 11:30 am are marked as being absent from school. Students who are absent from the school day, or dismissed due to illness, are not permitted to participate in any extracurricular activities on that day.

Recess/Outdoor play

  • Children should be properly clothed daily for outdoor play. Children are sent outside for recess when the temperature is 35 degrees F and above as long as playground conditions permit safe play.

Lunch Ordering

Orders must be placed by Sunday afternoon @ 4pm for the following week. Late orders will not be accepted. Please be mindful of deadlines and if you miss them, please be sure to send your children in with lunch. If you have any lunch questions or concerns, please email lunch@stleosschool.org

Lunch Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering for our lunch program, please email lunch@stleosschool.org with the days you are available so we can make a monthly schedule.

DEADLINES

Please be mindful of due dates . We extend them whenever possible. Submitting things past a deadline creates much more work for those involved. Please be mindful of due dates and deadlines and stick to them in this new year!
