Dear Students and Parents,
Get ready to dive into the wonderful world of books as we gear up to celebrate Read Across America Week from March 2nd to March 8th, 2024!
Although Read Across America Day falls on March 2nd, which is a Saturday this year, we're excited to extend the celebrations throughout the week. This annual event is a fantastic opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the joy of reading.
Throughout the week, we have planned a variety of exciting activities to encourage a love for reading among our students:We encourage all students to actively participate in the festivities and embrace the magic of reading. Let's come together to celebrate the joy, knowledge, and adventures that books bring into our lives.
- Dress-Up Days: Show your spirit by participating in our themed dress-up days! From "Favorite Book Character Day" to "Crazy Hats/Hair Day," there's something fun for everyone.
- Guest Readers: We're thrilled to welcome special guests who will be joining us to read aloud to different classes throughout the week. Get ready to be inspired by their stories and insights.
- Classroom Read-Alouds: Teachers will be incorporating extra read-aloud sessions into their daily schedules, featuring a diverse range of books to captivate and engage students.
- Reading Challenges: Participate in our reading challenges and earn rewards for reaching milestones. Whether it's completing a certain number of books or exploring new genres, there's a challenge suited to every reader.
- Book Swaps: Bring in gently used books to exchange with your peers during our book swap events. It's a great way to discover new stories while recycling old favorites.
- Literary Trivia Contests: Test your knowledge of beloved books and authors with our daily trivia contests. Prizes will be awarded to the most knowledgeable participants!
- Drop & Read Moments: Carry a book with you throughout the day so you can drop and read upon request.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a love for reading among our students. Together, let's make Read Across America Week 2024 a memorable and enriching experience for everyone!
Happy reading!
