**ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE WEEK OF 5/18**

**2nd Grade Math**

- Complete worksheets p. 215 & 219 (Review from last week) If you can’t print it out, then write it on a separate piece of paper and label the lesson number.
- Complete workbook pages 202-209
- For pages 202 & 203 you will need a centimeter ruler and an inch ruler since you don’t have centimeter cubes or inch squares at home. Either using the centimeter ruler or inch ruler (depending on the directions) draw perfect rows and columns to make a grid to completely cover the rectangle. Skip # 2 on p. 202 because you already did it for #1.
- For page 204, you will be using the same method as you did for pages 202 & 203.
- For page 206- #1 use an inch ruler, #2 trace the small square and use that square to solve problem #2, #3 trace the small square and use that small square to solve problem #3.
- For page 207- Problem #1 you are making 2 rows by 2 columns… 2×2=4 squares; Problem #2 you are making 5 rows by 7 columns… 5×7=35 squares.
- After pages 202-207, pages 208 & 209 should be a breeze!!!
- Continue to work on your subtraction facts, counting with coins, telling time to the nearest minute, measuring objects to the nearest inch or centimeter.

- Complete workbook pages 195-201
- A few notes before you start Chapter 8- How do you describe a shape? You can describe a shape in 3 ways. By its sides, angles and vertices. If we were to describe a triangle, it has 3 sides, 3 angles (where any 2 sides meet and form a corner) and it has 3 vertices (3 points, where the 2 sides meet and form a point) A square has 4 sides, 4 angles and 4 vertices.
- Another attribute some shapes have are parallel sides. If you place a ruler on a blank piece of paper and draw lines along the top edge and bottom edge, you will have a set of parallel lines because they are the same distance apart. My favorite example of parallel lines are the yellow lines in the middle of the road. They are always the same distance apart and they never meet.
- You will also find attribute cards in the back of your workbook- Activity sheet 13. You don’t have to cut them out, but you can try and guess what shape they are describing.
